— All it takes is a shift in perception —
My name is Kate (MBACP) and I am a British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) registered counsellor based in Chorley. I offer face-to-face, telephone and online counselling.
We all experience times of difficulty in our lives, when events or relationships feel overwhelming, or we can feel a loss of direction or purpose. Talking to a trained professional helps us make sense of those challenging times and offers a way through them, moving towards a better understanding of ourselves and our feelings.
As a counsellor my role is to provide space and guidance to help you on your journey of self-discovery; to enable you to examine your life and make new, meaningful choices within it.
I am a person-centred therapist, which means I have an empathic, transparent, respectful, non-judgemental approach and provide emotional support.
I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life.
Seeking counselling and being vulnerable are indeed acts of courage and strength, not weakness. It takes bravery to confront your fears, doubts, and insecurities, and therapy provides a safe space to do so. By opening up and sharing your thoughts and feelings with a trained professional, you can gain new insights, develop coping strategies, and ultimately foster personal growth.
Moreover, being vulnerable in therapy can lead to profound transformations. It allows you to break down emotional barriers, heal past wounds, and cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences. In embracing vulnerability, you not only demonstrate courage but also pave the way for positive change and resilience.
Therapy can indeed provide a new perspective, boost confidence, and equip you with invaluable tools for navigating life's challenges. And the willingness to engage in this process is a superpower in itself—one that empowers you to live authentically, embrace your vulnerabilities, and forge meaningful connections with others.
People come to me for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties:

Grief, loss or bereavement
